Madeleine McCann - What's Inside The Box? (The Politics of Disappearing)

 On May 3rd 2007, 3 year old Madeleine McCann disappeared from her parent's holiday apartment in Praia Da Luz. Rather than add to an already excessive volume of speculation about who may and who may not be responsible, or who may or may not be to blame, this site will attempt to frame the investigation within the broader context of commercial and political profiteering, exploring instead the various motives of certain interest groups and individuals who have laid claim to the ‘abduction event’ over the past 18 months or so. The site offers no explanation for what might have occurred prior to the event, only for the Press, PR and lobbying activity that erupted in its wake. The intent is to dispel any notion of an elaborate conspiracy and to propose a more prosaic but no less compelling account of the Madeleine Franchise and how it came almost accidently into shape: a story of commercial and political improvisation.

Over the last few days I have been speculating on some striking political undercurrents going on both sides of the fence. First there was the name of Jose Borba Martins cropping up in links to Rita Dywer - the Irish woman known to Murat and Walczuch during Michaela's days at 'Century 21'. The first name that appears on list of signatures in support of Goncalo Amaral's Petition addressed to the Court of Human Rights belongs to a woman whose department coordinated staff at the Casa Pia Orphange in Lisbon - the school that was at the centre of a Child Abuse Scandal last decade.
Paulo Reis and Joana Morais also appear in the first 20 of the 1500+ signatures.

Would appreciate more info on the second apartment the McCanns rented in Praia da Luz (the Rua das Flores) as the Dutch owner appears to have links to the 'Museu de Arte Antiga' in Lisbon. I'm wondering if this museum fosters any links to Graca Morais or any of her extended circle . Graca is the mother of Joana Morais and one of Portugal's most respected artists. (Graca has also canvassed for Socialist Prime Minister, Jose Socrates). Just been trying to flesh out some background on some of the names that appear in the Police Files published in 2008. It's just one way of dispelling some of the rumours and anchoring the incident in the real life affairs of day-to-day Praia da Luz.
First up is John Geraghty - the millionaire business man and resident of Praia da Luz who got the keys to the church on behalf of the McCanns and also stored their Renault Scenic in his garage, whilst the couple returned to England.
Given that he was in the construction business, it's possible, but by no means certain, that he had property interests in the area. There is, however, nothing to link him to either other prominent businessmen and impresarios like Carlos Costa, the Symingtons or the Garveighs. ...

In the previous report about Burgau, I reported that a suspicious Polish couple photographing children in Sagres had been traced to the Solimar Apartments - an apartment block built by Jacinto & Murat - the company founded by Robert's father.
